Contextual Menu
As with most OS X applications, Path Finder's contextual menu can be activated by right-clicking within the application's interface. As the name suggests, the contextual menu is context-sensitive - the items that the menu contains will vary depending on where you activate the menu. For instance, the menu for a file may provide options to open, duplicate, or compress the file, while the menu for a removable disk in the sidebar may give you the option of ejecting the disk, or opening it in a new tab.
Many functions available in the contextual menu are also available in the menubar, and so will not be covered here.
General
Folder Contents
As a common convention in Path Finder, the contextual menu for an item that logically contains files or folder will provide a menu to display its contents. For example, right-clicking or control-clicking on a folder will expose the “Contents” menu item. This menu will allow you to drill down into the folder and examine its contents without having to first open the folder.
The “Contents” menu is available in the contextual menu for the following items:
- Folders (in the browser window, sidebar, shelf, selection path, and so on)
- Tab Bar
- Path Navigator
File Browser
The File Browser's contextual menu can be customized in Path Finder's preferences (Path Finder > Preferences > Contextual Menu).
Favorites
If you have added files or folders to your favorites they can be recalled quickly by right-clicking in an empty section of the file browser. Folders will appear first in the menu, followed by files.
More
The “More” menu will allow you to access third party contextual menu plugins, run Automator Actions, and enable and configure Folder Actions.
