Adelphia Broadband is Crap

June 24, 2005

I recently canceled my DSL and got Adelphia high speed internet access.

It was a complete disaster. Adelphia is pathetic. It’s super slow and between the hours of 6pm and 1am. It’s not even usable.

The problem is that each area is controlled by a server and if that server gets bogged down, it grinds to a halt. It makes sense that around 6pm, people get off work and go home and get online.

My office which is a few miles from my home has the exact same pattern. After 6pm, don’t even bother using it, it’s super slow. Slower than a 300bps modem. I can’t believe these companies think this is acceptable.

I just ordered DSL again and canceled Adelphia. Beware of Adelphia cable, it’s a scam.

I could not agree more. At my families home, not only is it slow, but often it simply drop the line connectivity on my modem.... I myself live in Boston (they on the South SHore of MA) and have Speakeasy DSL. I could not be happier with with the customer service and reliability(even got a free upgrade when they moved the local Central Office!).

Maaaaannnn...

Always stay with ADSL or DSL (if you can get it). The main reason its superior is because your connection to the main service is through a dedicated modem. One customer = 1 mainline hookup. In cable systems you share the bandwidth. If you have a sparsely populated service area you will likely have good service.

Glad to see you chose ADSL (although once burned).

In Canada it's the same old story with ADSL (Bell canada) and Rogers/Shaw/Cogeco.

Around here (Belgium) the slowest cable connection is 3x faster than the fastest ADSL connection. Your "theory" is incorrect. :p

I have a HUGE problem with ADELPHIA AS A WHOLE! I moved and cencelled my service in 2004' and Adelphia owed ME over $150.00 and I waited for almost 8 months to receive it. Today I call Adelphia because Im going to need a week extra to pay my bill and they turned it off and didnt give a crap about it or my feelings!
